IFIP and KNCCI Host High-Level Dialogue to Strengthen Turkana’s Economy
Lodwar, Turkana County – The Islamic Foundation for Integrated Programs (IFIP) and the Kenya National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KNCCI) hosted a pivotal dialogue today, bringing together key government and business leaders to discuss strategies for economic growth in Turkana County.
The event was attended by Governor Jeremiah Lomorukai, the County Commissioner, Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA), and County Executive Committee Members (CECMs) for Finance, Trade, and Health, along with members of the local business community. Discussions focused on strengthening KNCCI’s role in economic development, integrating businesses into key decision-making processes, and enhancing collaboration between the private sector and government.
One of the major outcomes of the meeting was the commitment to fostering a more inclusive and supportive business environment, ensuring that SMEs and entrepreneurs have access to resources, markets, and policy support. Participants also emphasised the need for improved trade policies, better infrastructure, and stronger partnerships to drive long-term economic resilience in Turkana.
“This engagement marks an important step towards a stronger, more self-sustaining economy in Turkana,” said a KNCCI representative. “By working together, we can unlock opportunities for local businesses and build a more prosperous future for the region.”

The discussions set a strong foundation for ongoing collaboration between the government, KNCCI, and the private sector. Moving forward, IFIP and KNCCI will continue working to implement these resolutions, ensuring that the economic future of Turkana is both vibrant and resilient.
